Amalgamated Pharmaceuticals has become a strong thread in the fabric of Black Economic Empowerment - by virtue of its ownership and key management structure (both 100% black), the composition of its workforce (90% black), its market focus, and its uncompromising determination to:

• Utilize local community resources wherever possible, and transfer to them skills and technology in the process
• Promote and develop small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) owned by previously disadvantaged individuals
• Create sustainable black employment and promote workplace reforms the group's track record as an enthusiastic and successful promoter of black advancement, entrepreneurship and job creation is illustrated by the fact that it has played a key role in the creation of almost 20 SMMEs that now provide key services to it. These include owner-drivers (on the transport front), cleaning and security 

The extensive social investment activities of Amalgamated Pharmaceuticals include a mobile clinic that has been operating in Gauteng townships for 15 years, bursaries for prospective (black) pharmacy students and a myriad of donations for worthy causes in the pharmaceutical sector.
